Visual voice is the artistic vocabulary of your individual style and the how and why you paint.
Like a fingerprint ,your artistic voice is determined by what the artist responds to visually and emotionally. it’s your inspiration, materials, techniques, tools used, themes, colour palettes, all working together, that looks like you and no one else.
Artists use a universal language to capture the essence of what they want to say. Their vocabulary of this visual language is the application of the formal elements and design principles of art that consist of the following:
Elements | Design Principles (tie the elements together) |
Line | Contrast |
Shape | Unity |
Colour | Variety/Repetition |
Form | Emphasis |
Space | Movement |
Value/tone | Balance |
Texture | Proportion |
